How to sign a PDF on iPhone for free

You can sign a PDF on your iPhone in about a minute without paying for an app. Here are two free ways: in Safari, which also lets you add text, dates and checkboxes, or with the Markup tool built into iOS.
Way 1: in Safari, no app needed
This is the easiest way if the document also needs your name, a date or ticked boxes.
- 1If the PDF came by email, tap it and save it to Files first.
- 2Open signfree.org in Safari and tap "Choose a PDF" under "Sign it yourself".
- 3Pick the PDF from Files.
- 4Tap Signature and draw your signature with your finger, or type your name.
- 5Tap the document where the signature goes. Drag it or its corner to adjust.
- 6Tap Download. Safari saves the signed PDF to the Downloads folder in the Files app.
Way 2: Markup in the Files app
iOS has a built-in signature tool. Open the PDF in the Files app, tap the Markup (pen) button, tap +, then Add Signature. Draw it, tap Done, and move it into place. It's handy for a quick signature. For typing on forms, placing dates or getting others to sign, Way 1 is easier.
Sending the signed PDF back
Open the signed file in Files, tap the Share button and choose Mail, WhatsApp or whichever app you need.
Getting a PDF signed by someone else from your iPhone
Choose "Send it for signing" on signfree.org, add the other person's name and email, and tap where they need to sign. They get an email, sign on their own phone or computer, and you both receive the signed PDF.
